Director of Manufacturing Processes

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Director of Manufacturing Processes manages all engineering and manufacturing methods for the development and motivation of the department. The primary responsibility is to drive continuous improvement using best manufacturing techniques in order to reduce manufacturing defects and improve actual set-up times.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supports manufacturing methods and the programming team in order to find out the best practices of work
  • Takes part in continuous improvement projects, root cause clinics (RCCA) and MRB boards
  • Develops, executes, directs and supports the acquisition and maintenance of new equipment
  • Initiates estimates of the direct cost and lead time to manufacture parts/assemblies in response to customer quotes
  • Proactively responds to inside customers in order to assure their satisfaction and maintain good relations
  • Hires, develops and motivates people in his/her department

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing or Equivalent, combined with at least 10 years of progressive experience in a high precision manufacturing environment (ideally in aerospace). He/she must be knowledgeable with modern manufacturing methods and tools currently in use in this type of environment. Lean manufacturing and/or six sigma experience is also highly desirable.

In addition, the new incumbent must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English. He/she must be able to demonstrate a high degree of motivation, professionalism, leadership and drive to help take the company to the levels of sophistication absolutely necessary in today's high precision, just-in-time aerospace manufacturing environment.
